An outstanding Chinese American artist, he now is the vice-chairman of "The Sketch of China" oil painting club, the chairman of the Shanghai branch, principal of the New York "World Academy of Art-Oil Painting and Sculpture College" and vice president of the American Original Artists Association.
Born in Shanghai, originate from Linyi, Shandong province, graduated from the College of Art and Design of the Shanghai Institute of Technology (originally Department of Fine Arts, Shanghai Light Industry College), learned after the famous painter Yan Wenliang and Zhang Yinghong,etc..
In 1986, the ink painting "Dream Home" won the first Shanghai Youth Art Exhibition Excellence Award. In 1987, the general material work "Spring River" was selected to participate in the Shanghai exhibition of the National Fine Art Exhibition. In October 1988, the Shanghai Art Museum Research Department hosted "Lawrence Liu's Painting Exhibition", In May 1991, the French Ministry of Education Cultural Association held the "Lawrence Liu Works Exhibition" in Hong Kong and Kowloon.
He moved to New York in December 1991, he had held solo exhibitions, joint exhibitions, and auctions in New York, California, Philadelphia, and other places in the United States. In 2000, he won the "Lifetime Art Achievement Award" presented by the U.S. World Art Center, established "Lawrence Art Gallery" in the ancient town Zhu Jia Jiao, and was included in the support project of Shanghai Qingpu District Cultural Tourism Bureau. In 2013, the Linan Yinan Government of Shandong established the "Liu Shuchun Art Museum". In 2018 and 2019, Lawrence Liu's series of plain color oil paintings “Home Mountain Picks Up Dream" held Solo Exhibitions in New York, Shanghai, and Shandong.
Lawrence Liu’s early modern painting works “Far View”, “Mountain Rhythm” and etc. were collected by the American Ohio National Museum and people from the U.S., France, Japan, etc.. In recent years, most of the oil painting figures and landscape paintings have been auctioned by the Shanghai "Duoyunxuan Auction Company", Shanghai Xinmin Evening News, Wenhui Daily, Liberty Daily, and Shanghai “Books and Paintings”, Tianjin "Chinese Painting World", Shanghai "Art World", France " Wenlv”, and magazines and media such as Microsoft’s flagship store on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue that have successively introduced Lawrence Liu’s paintings and won the Art Achievement Award from the New York City Congress in 2018.
